Katie Doherty’s songs are food for the soul. The award-winning songwriter has toured with Kathryn Tickell, supported Kate and Anna McGarrigle, Karine Polwart, Ray Davies and Nitin Sawhney, and composed music for theatre shows for companies like the RSC and Northern Stage.
Her latest project, Katie Doherty and The Navigators, is a collaboration with two fellow North-East-based musicians:
Fiddler Shona Mooney is a former winner of BBC Scotland Young Traditional Musician of the Year and founder member of folk supergroup The Shee. Her playing soars across any melody and enchants all in her path.
On melodeon is the smiliest man in Folk, Dave Gray. Tutored by the master of melodeon, Andy Cutting, Dave lends his infectious energy and joy to any music he touches.
Together, the trio’s sound is much bigger than its component parts. The positivity in the music is contagious and their shows are intimate and joyful.
Be prepared for the Navigators to stay with you.
