Katie Doherty and The Navigators were friends re-united, brought together to tour Beyond the End of The Road – a musical composed by Katie and produced by November Club. They recognised a spark which was fuelled during a Summer Studio’s residency at Sage Gateshead in 2017. This concert marks the official release of their first album together ‘And Then’ which will also be Katie’s long awaited second album. Often sounding much bigger than their three piece, they produce a powerful, passionate and emotive sound, sure to swell your heart and get it singing.
Fresh from their artist residency at Sage Gateshead, Sam Partridge (English Concertina) and Grace Smith (Fiddle) bring an explorative approach to traditional English music. Being equally at home unearthing old tunes from the archives as they are in composing new additions to the repertoire, Sam and Grace are excited about this new duo and look forward to sharing their music with you.
After reaching the semi finals of the BBC Radio 2 Young Folk Award in 2016 and a residency at Sage Gateshead’s Summer Studios in 2018, Coniston’s Holly Clarke is set to take the folk world by storm, singing both traditional and original songs with her unforgettable voice.
Holly Clarke said: “_As a traditional singer and musician, having this platform to perform is so important. The folk scene in the North East has a strong following and exposing my music to that scene is really going to help me in my career. Sage Gateshead has been a big part of my education in folk music, so it’s special to be a part of this and working closer with them.”_
